DASH Deployment on the Kyes

DS-1113 was transferred to VU-3 at North Island, CA on 21-Mar-64 to begin
its operating service period. DS-1113 would be used to train DASH drone
controllers for the next 2 months during which time she would accumulate
over 415 takeoffs/landings in 33 flight hours.

On 04-Sept-64, DS-1113 was transferred to the destroyer, USS JAMES E. KYES
(DD-787) but three weeks later DS-1113 was back at North Island for additional
drone controller training (31-Sept-64).

During the 2 months DS-1113 was at North Island, she again accumulated a
remarkable additional 395 takeoff/landings in a 21 flight hour period.

DS-1113 was transferred again to the USS JAMES E. KYES on 30-Nov-64 and was
placed on combat-ready status.   DS-1113 served on the KYES for 6 months,
adding another 27 flight hours and an unknown number of landings to her log
book until she was lost and stricken on 20-May-65 after accumulating 81 total
flight hours with the KYES listed as the custodian at the time of loss.

QH-50C, DS-1215 joined the KYES on 6-1-66, flew 8 hrs until she was lost on
3-6-68.

The KYES had DS-1088 (QH-50C) from 8-28-67 until she was transferred off
5-06-68 for depot repair. She was later lost off TAUSSIG on 8-22-67.
