USS James E. Kyes (DD-787) Association
Donations
The USS James E. Kyes Association no longer has dues-paying members. This is
because the association no longer performs services only to members but instead
provides services to all shipmates who ever served aboard the USS James E. Kyes.
Most of those services are provided via this website.
There are some costs associated with maintaining a website, such as domain name
registration fees and maintenance of equipment. Any time spent on this effort
is donated free of charge. Other costs are those paid to the Department of the
Navy to acquire information that is posted on the website such as ships logs,
drawings, photos, etc.
There are also costs associated with postcard mailings such as reunion announcements
and maintaining the ship's roster. Donations would also go toward costs of
planning reunions and acquiring materials such as banners, flags, etc.
Donations would also go toward creating an inventory for the Ship's Store to
offer shipmates a variety of items for purchase with the USS James E. Kyes logo.
Items would include patches, hats, shirts, cups, mousepads, pens, etc.
All funds are placed in an account that is reviewed by all shipmates at the
next reunion and shipmates will decide how they will be spent.
The association also intends to donate a percentage of collected funds to the
USS Joseph P. Kennedy Museum and the
"Save the Ships" foundation. This is a worthy cause because the USS Joseph P. Kennedy
is a Fram 1B destroyer that is nearly identical to the USS James E. Kyes.
