The origin of Jumping Jimmy

#1 Post by rogerdonnay »

I asked Rick Warden what is the origin of the term Jumping Jimmy.
This was his answer:
All I know about "Jumpin Jimmy" term is that when
the ship was in Australia a kangaroo was given to the
ship (early 60's I think). The Kangaroo made the ride home
where he went to the San Diego zoo. Therefore, Jumpin;
from the kangaroo and that she was a tin can that jumped
in the heavy seas and Jimmy nickname for James.
Above information is word of mouth.
